Auburn team in Little League World Series

SUNDAY, AUG. 15, 2010

Auburn, Wash., took a 13-3, four-inning victory over North Boise in the Little League West Region championship game in San Bernardino, Calif., to earn a spot in the LL World Series that opens Friday.

This is the ninth time the state of Washington will be represented in the World Series. Auburn will play New England champion Fairfield, Conn., on Friday in its LLWS opener.

Women’s soccer

Micaela Castain scored three goals and Washington State defeated Idaho 5-1 in an exhibition match at Moscow, Idaho.

The 21st-ranked Cougars open the season Friday against sixth-ranked Florida State in the WSU Invitational following a match between Gonzaga and Utah.

The Vandals open their season at UC Irvine on Friday.
