Nick Velis, DDS, has joined his father’s dental practice, Velis Family Dental Care in Spokane Valley. He is a graduate of Creighton University School of Dentistry and completed his residency in advanced education in general dentistry at the University of the Pacific.

Global Credit Union has hired Lisa Spratt as a member services representative for the company’s Sullivan Branch in Spokane Valley. She previously worked as a vehicle title specialist for Numerica Credit Union and has 27 years of related experience. The company has also hired Christina Morgan as a member services representative for the company’s Coeur d’Alene financial center. She previously worked as a sales associate for Tiffany Blue in Coeur d’Alene.

Dr. Colleen Carey has been hired as medical director of The Community Health Education and Resource Diabetes Education Center. Carey has practiced in Spokane since 1980, specializing in endocrinology and metabolism, and is a graduate of Pomona College and the Medical College of Pennsylvania.

The Pend Oreille Basin Commission in Sandpoint has hired Erin Mader as program coordinator. She holds a bachelor’s degree with a focus in freshwater ecology and geology from Evergreen State College and a master’s degree in teaching with a specialization in biology and earth science education from Seattle University.

Kudos

Gerri Vance received a 2010 Business Travel Professional Service Award from the National Business Travel Association for his contributions to the corporate travel industry. Vance is administrative services manager for Purcell Systems and board member of the Inland Northwest Business Travel Association.

The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living presented Avalon Care Center – Northpointe with a 2010 Bronze Quality Award.

The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve organization presented Daniel Hill at Spokane Valley Jiffy Lube, Jon Budda at R and R Masonry in Newman Lake, Tom Clark of T.W. Clark and Jim Kucera at Pantrol Inc. with “My Boss is a Patriot” awards.

Appointed

Kevin Oldenburg has been appointed to the Health Sciences and Services Authority of Spokane County’s board of directors by Mayor Mary Verner. Oldenburg is co-founder and owner of MatriCal Bioscience biotechnology company.

The North Idaho College Foundation has appointed Art Elliot and CJ Buck as new members of its board of directors. Elliot works for Shelter Associates Inc. of Coeur d’Alene as president, treasurer and CEO. Buck is president of Buck Knives Inc. in Post Falls.
