I-90 rollover crash kills Tacoma woman

A 21-year-old Tacoma woman died Sunday after the car she was riding in overturned along Interstate 90 about 10 miles east of Ritzville, near the Tokio exit.

The Washington State Patrol said Sasha N. Peters was killed when the driver of the vehicle, Mitchell B. Confer, 21, of Cheney, fell asleep at the wheel while they were traveling westbound and drifted off the roadway into a median shortly after 2 a.m. The 1985 Honda Civic then rolled and came to rest in the left lane.

The two were rushed by ambulance to East Adams Rural Hospital, in Ritzville, where Peters died.

Both were wearing seat belts, and investigators don’t believe alcohol was involved.
