Indians thump Salem-Keizer with big fourth inning
KEIZER, Ore. – The Spokane Indians used five runs in the fourth inning to break a deadlock with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (6-13) en route to a 12-3 victory in Northwest Conference baseball Monday at Volcanoes Stadium.
Spokane’s Kellin Deglan led off the fourth with a single. Kevin Rodland homered one batter later to give the Indians a 5-3 lead. Ryan Strausborger then hit his second triple of the game, and Jared Hoying’s single made it 6-3. After Hoying stole second, Michael Olt hit his seventh home run to push Spokane in front 8-3.
Ben Henry (3-3) went six innings for the Indians, allowing three runs on three hits.
Hoying went 3 for 6 with a homer and three RBIs for the Indians (10-9), giving him 42 RBIs this season. Olt, Brett Nicholas and Kevin Rodland added two RBIs each. Strausborger had three extra-base hits.
