Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a suspect in a July 30 shooting at Bigelow Gulch that left a man with a gunshot wound to the head.
Christopher T. Jackson, 24, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on Tuesday on a single charge of first-degree assault, according to a news release.
Police tracked Jackson down at his home on the 8900 block of East Bigelow Gulch Road, where they discovered bullet casings but no gun.
They were able to find him due to witness descriptions of a getaway car, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.
On the day in question, a man and two women were in a car northbound on Thierman Road approaching Bigelow Gulch Road when they passed Jackson and a second person walking on the west shoulder.
As the car passed, the driver saw Jackson and the other person raise their arms, and took it as a sign of disrespect. The driver turned around and swerved his car toward the pair, according to the news release.
Jackson is accused of firing a gun into a car occupied by the male victim, who was driving, and two women. The man was taken to a local hospital and later released.
Police do not believe Jackson knew the victims before the shooting, Reagan said.
The case remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said. Anyone with information about Jackson’s companion or the pistol used is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
