Pounds wins Idaho junior golf title

Coeur d’Alene’s Alex Pounds finished at 3-under-par 139 to win the boys 17-18 division of the Idaho State Junior Golf Championships, which ended Tuesday at Bryden Canyon Golf Club in Lewiston.

Pounds completed two rounds 10 shots ahead of Boise’s Keawe Soares.

Kaitlen Parsons of Greenacres won the girls 15-18 division with a 152, two shots ahead of Post Falls’ Madeline Dodge. Clarkston’s Kathryn Buckingham took third place, another two shots back.

CdA’s Jeffrey Roseth shot 154 to place second among 16-year-old boys.

Among 15-year-old boys, Lewiston’s Camron Stricklin won the title with a 151, two shots ahead of Mead’s Zack Spencer and three up on CdA’s Kyle Kaufman.

Liberty Lake’s Mark Beck won the 14-year-old boys division at 144. Clarkston’s Michael Baldeck (145) placed second and Spokane’s Eric Ansett (147) was third.

Clarkston’s Joseph Baldeck shot 148 to win the 13-year-old boys title by eight shots.

Lewiston’s Amy Hasenoehrl (158) finished second among 14-year-old girls.

• Colbert’s Sierra Bezdicek tied for 12th in the girls division as the AJGA Junior at Centennial Golf Club in Medford, Ore., wrapped up Thursday.

Bezdicek completed three rounds at 5-over 221, 12 shots behind champion Jennifer Ha of Calgary, Alberta.

Spokane’s Megan Haase (226) placed 21st, four shots better than Spokane’s Sierra and Sydney Kersten.
