Service, picnic planned at parks

It’s all about the outdoors this week as two Valley churches prepare to host outside events in celebration of summer.

• The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will host its annual “Worship in the Park” service at 10 a.m. Sunday in Terrace View Park at South Blake Road and 24th Avenue. The outdoor service will be followed by a potluck lunch. Those attending are asked to bring their own place settings and a dish to share. The church will provide beverages.

• Zion Lutheran Church will host its annual church picnic Sunday after the 9:30 a.m. worship service at 8304 E. Buckeye Ave. The church will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments and lemonade.

Those with last names beginning with the letters A to J are asked to bring pasta or a vegetable salad, K to M chips, N to R pre-sliced watermelon and S to Z a dessert. All are welcome to attend.
