Women report being threatened, hearing racial slurs

Spokane police arrested a 22-year-old man Friday night for malicious harassment after police say he and another man threatened two women with a rifle and a yard tool. Robert J. Christerson was booked into the Spokane County Jail after two women, who are black, reported being harassed in the area of Fifth Avenue and Arthur Street, police said. The women told police two men shouted racial slurs and threatened them, police said. Police later located Christerson and his companion in the area, and they admitted to the harassment. At that time police recovered the weapon, which turned out to be a pellet rifle. The other man, a 42-year-old, will be charged at a later date, police said.
