School registrations, orientations this week

Summer vacation is quickly coming to an end, and North Idaho students and their families must prepare for school. The school year will begin Sept. 7.

In the Coeur d’Alene School District, registration for new and returning students in the elementary and middle schools will be from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

New students will need their birth certificate, immunization records and a verification of address. Returning students will need only a verification of address, such as a household utility bill.

Borah Elementary School will have a “registration celebration” that will feature games, school supplies and complimentary haircuts for students.

According to information on the Coeur d’Alene School District’s website, because Ramsey Elementary is reopening as a magnet school, returning students need to register on Tuesday, but new students will be accepted by an application process, depending on space availability.

Coeur d’Alene and Lake City High Schools will register students Thursday through Aug. 31.

As part of the back-to-school preparation, school bus drivers will be at elementary schools in the Coeur d’Alene School District to answer questions and meet the students who will ride their buses. Route information, school bus registration forms and school bus conduct forms will be available.

In the Post Falls School District, middle school students may register at their school on Monday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. High school registration will begin on Tuesday.

Post Falls kindergarten and elementary students began the registration process on Aug. 19.
