One killed, five hurt in Highway 57 crash
A Spokane woman was killed Saturday and several others were hospitalized in a collision near Priest River, Idaho.
Patricia J. StPiere, 46, pulled a 1986 Pontiac Firebird onto state Highway 57 from the Falls Inn Tavern about 5:37 p.m., into the path of a southbound 2006 Nissan Xterra driven by 32-year-old Hrishikesh S. Joshi, Idaho State Police said. The vehicles collided in the northbound lanes, troopers reported.
StPiere was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in her car, Nicole S. Mecklenburg, 20, of Spokane, and Patricia R. Abbs, 37, of Priest River, suffered unspecified injuries. Mecklenburg was taken to Newport Community Hospital; Abbs was taken to Bonner General Hospital, the ISP said. All reportedly were wearing seat belts.
Joshi and two passengers, 32-year-old Rupali S. Joshi and 10-month-old Arnav Joshi, all of Spokane, suffered unspecified injuries and were taken to Newport Community Hospital, troopers reported. The adults were wearing seat belts and the infant was securely restrained, the ISP said.

I was very disappointed in our media coverage of this tragic story when I found out the real truth at a fund raiser for the deceased family. I went through the week, along with everyone I have mentioned this article to, assuming that Patricia St Piere had been drinking and was the cause of her death since TV and paper articles listed that she was pulling out of a Tavern and TV said that alcohol was a factor. There was no mention that she had not drank and was picking up sandwiches. No one mentioned that the driver of the other car, Hrishikesh S. Joshi, was speeding, intoxicated, crossed over into her lane and was taken off in hand cuffs. Patricia St Piere’s family should have been able to trust the media to give the facts since her loss of life is bad enough, but to have it covered as if she was at fault is so sad. If you are unable to give the facts, do not write it for the readers to make inaccurate assumptions. How would you feel if this was your wife, mom or dear friend?

Hrishikesh was handcuffed? speeding?….. Digger please get your facts right….I witnessed the unfortunate accident ..A father with a 10 month old infant in the car will speed on a state high way……I don’t think so……also media will not write without any proofs…….If you google about this incident you will find all the news websites mentions the exact details which I suppose was released by the police departement……I feel sorry for the loss but that does not mean one should gather sympathy by twisting the facts…….
