A mobile home in Airway Heights caught fire tonight, forcing a woman out of her home while firefighters extinguished flames.

No one was injured, except the woman’s cat, in the fire that occurred near Campbell Street and Russell Road, said Tony Puntillo, Airway Heights Fire Department volunteer captain.

The call for response came around 9 p.m. By 10 p.m. the fire was extinguished and firefighters checked for damage and hot spots, Puntillo said.

Firefighters believe that the fire started in the living room, but investigators have not determined the cause yet, said Robert Ladd, a Spokane Fire District 10 spokesman. The mobile home will need renovations but is not totally destroyed, Ladd said.

The Red Cross was on scene to provide the adult female with resources, said an organization spokeswoman.
