Sen. Patty Murray said Thursday that she accepted two debates with opponent Dino Rossi, but the Rossi campaign said he wants more.
Murray’s campaign said she’s agreed to a debate in Spokane, sponsored by KSPS-TV and KXLY-TV, and another in Seattle, sponsored by KOMO-TV. Both would be broadcast around the state and occur in October after the Senate recesses.
Rossi challenged Murray to six debates last week and Thursday evening his campaign accused her of following an old playbook and relying on consultants and negative ads. But they stopped short of saying Rossi wouldn’t agree to the two debates Murray has accepted. Murray’s camp said she wasn’t going to agree to more than two debates.
