Avista power restored to most customers

Roughly 20,000 Avista customers in southeast Spokane lost power shortly before 10 p.m. but service was restored 10:20 p.m. for all but 5,000 customers. The area still without power is on the east side of the South Hill, said Jessie Wuerst, an Avista spokeswoman. Around 9:40 p.m., Avista reported a power outage for more than 20,000 customers, mostly in the South Hill and near Spokane Valley. Right now crews believe that the outage may be due to a pole fire, but investigation is ongoing, Wuerst said.
