Three men killed in crash identified

Three Spokane men killed in a car crash Sunday have been identified by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office as Anthony K. Archuleta, 21; Spencer A. Fry, 25; and Joseph M. Adams, 21. Traffic investigators said the 1991 BMW 325 was headed west and traveling at least 90 mph when the driver lost control on a right-hand curve at 44th Avenue and Eastern Road in southeast Spokane County. The car flew off the road and sheared off a 15-inch-thick pine tree before hitting another tree. All three men died of massive blunt-force trauma, according to Detective David Thornburg. Toxicology results won’t be known for a month. Sheriff’s deputies said Sunday that a nearly empty bottle of whiskey was found inside the crumpled car, as was a shotgun that was smashed in half by the impact.
