Idaho political regular cited in illegal elk kill

Rammell
Associated Press
Idaho wildlife officials say they are investigating former gubernatorial candidate Rex Rammell for illegally killing an elk in eastern Idaho. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game says Rammell placed an invalid hunting tag to an elk he was found dragging behind a snowmobile in the Tex Creek Wildlife Management Area on Tuesday morning. Rammell is also accused of interfering with efforts to seize the elk, making a threatening statement to the warden and refusing to accept a citation. Rammell ran in the Republican primary for governor this year and two years ago ran as an independent for the U.S. Senate. The former elk rancher says he believes he used a legal tag, did nothing wrong and will fight any charges in court.
