District 9 firefighters will escort Santa Claus on trucks

The firefighters from Spokane County Fire District 9 will be riding along with Santa while he visits local neighborhoods on the following dates.

Beginning today, Santa will be in the Shady Slope and Forest Glen neighborhoods, from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, from 4 to 9 p.m., he’ll be in Mead, east of Market Street, including Center Road south; west of Fairview; and north of Red Roan Drive, including Stoneman. Wednesday, Santa will visit Mead again and will be just west of Market Street, including Chatham and First Avenue; east of Wilson; and south of Center, from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 11, Santa will stop by the Upper Gleneden area, from 3 to 8 p.m.; the Camelot neighborhood, from 4 to 9 p.m.; and beginning at 5 p.m., Santa will visit the neighborhoods in the Morgan Acres area.

On Dec. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Santa will visit the Brentwood area. On Dec. 14, he’ll visit all sections of Mead Royale and all streets south of Chatham and First Avenue. Dec. 16, Santa will visit the Fairwood and Arrowhead neighborhoods, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Dec. 17, he’ll visit the Nine Mile area, from Charles to Hedin to Tormey and in between. From 5 to 8 p.m., he’ll stop by the Linwood area, south of the cemetery, from Division to Monroe streets. Santa will be in the Foothills neighborhoods, beginning at 6:15 p.m., starting with Forker and Scribner intersection; at 6:30, he’ll be at Forker and Foothills; at 6:45 at Forker and Temple; Forker and Lincoln at 7:15; and Forker and Judkins at 7:30 p.m.

On Dec. 18, beginning at 5 p.m., Santa will be in the Seven Mile neighborhoods, stopping by Kendig, Dogwood and Ellenwood. He will also visit the Linwood area between Monroe Street and Country Homes Boulevard, from 4 to 8 p.m. Santa Claus will visit Five Mile Prairie south of Strong Road, on Dec. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. And, on Dec. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m., he will visit Five Mile Prairie north of Strong Road.

During his visits, Santa will collect nonperishable food items to donate to local food banks.
