In brief: Music center offers holiday events

WEST HILLS – The Holy Names Music Center, 2911 W. Fort George Wright Drive, will perform “Ave! A Celebration of Mary” on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The community is invited to attend. A donation of $20 is suggested for the performance.

On Dec. 17 at 4 p.m., Holy Names will celebrate the season with a free potluck and sing-along. The event will be held in Holy Names’ Recital Hall.

The Adult Chamber will continue the holiday spirit with a music program and string ensemble recital on Dec. 19 at 3 p.m.

The concert will feature Corelli’s “Christmas Concerto” and works by Bach and Purcell.

Arts and crafts festival coming up at MAC

BROWNE’S ADDITION – The Museum of Arts and Culture, 2316 W. First Ave., will have a creative, holiday festival of arts and crafts with the Spokane Art School’s Yuletide 2010, held Dec. 10-12.

The 30-year tradition includes ceramics, paintings, jewelry, photography, woodwork and fiber arts. The event supports area artists and provides an opportunity for unique holiday shopping.

Greenwood to honor soldiers Dec. 11

SPOKANE – The Fairmont Memorial Association and the Sons of the American Revolution, Spokane Chapter One, will honor those who have fought and served our country on Dec. 11 at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way.

Accordion group offers holiday concert

RIVERSIDE – The Spokane Accordion Ensemble will perform at the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave., on Dec. 13 in “Accordion Christmas Potpourri” at 7 p.m.

The Youth Orchestra also will perform in the holiday concert.

A $10 donation is suggested for the event at the door.

Opera gala planned at St. John’s Cathedral

ROCKWOOD – The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will host the “Celebrate the Season” Opera Gala Dec. 18 at 8 p.m.

The holiday concert will feature David Brewster on piano; Lisa Eden, soprano; and Jon Mancheni and Jahmaul Bakare, tenors.
