Area roundup: Whits top Wildcats in men’s basketball

Mike Taylor poured in a game-high 20 points and four of Whitworth’s five starters finished in double figures as the Pirates (6-0, 2-0) cruised to a 90-57 Northwest Conference win over Linfield (3-2, 1-1) on Saturday in McMinnville, Ore.

Felix Friedt chipped in 15 points and eight boards for the Pirates.

CC Spokane 77, Green River 67: Chaz Johnson scored 23 points and added five rebounds, Preston Wynne tallied 15 points and three assists and CCS (4-2) erased a five-point halftime lead by outscoring GRCC (2-1) 38-23 in the second at the Bigfoot-Cardinal Shootout in Coeur d’Alene.

North Idaho 67, Highline CC 52: Deandre Taylor tied the game-high with 14 points and the Cardinals (12-0) advanced to the championship game of the Bigfoot-Cardinal Shootout with their win over the Thunderbirds (1-1) in Coeur d’Alene.

NIC will play CCS in the championship today at 3 p.m in CdA.
