Prep basketball roundup: Lake City cuts down Bantams

Chris Wheelock hit three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points and Mark Smyly chipped in 15 points as Lake City (3-1) edged Clarkston (1-1) 53-46 in a nonleague bout Tuesday in Clarkston.

Trey Sobotta led the Bantams with 20 points, but the Timberwolves built a seven-point lead after one quarter and held on the rest of the way.

Pullman 59, Lewiston 47: Corey and Tyler Langerveld scored 20 and 12 points, respectively, and the host Greyhounds (2-0) dumped the Bengals (2-1).

Medical Lake 51, Newport 43: Kevin Fisher led all scorers with 23 points and Alex Haynes scored all four of his points on free throws in the fourth quarter to lift the host Cardinals (1-1) over the Grizzlies (2-2). Jake Wiley tallied 24 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks for the Grizzlies in the loss.

Chewelah 57, Kellogg 56: Ben Johnstone scored 17 points to go with eight rebounds and the Cougars (2-1) were 8-of-8 shooting in the fourth quarter, overcoming an eight-point deficit to beat the visiting Wildcats (2-2). Nick Naccarato added 13 points for the Cougars.

Riverside 65, St. George’s 61: Jacob Biggs tallied 21 points and nine rebounds and Jordan Woods added 21 points as the host Rams (1-0) held off the Dragons (1-1). Karl Muelheims scored a game-high 23 points for the Dragons.

St. Maries 55, Coeur d’Alene JV 37: Zach Lehman scored 13 points and Satchel Schetzle added 12 points, leading the Lumberjacks (3-0) to a victory over the host Vikings.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 61, Odessa-Harrington 19: Dylan Hartz, Jake Eichner and Brent Stromberger each scored 13 points and the visiting Broncos (3-0) shut out the Titans (0-2) in the fourth quarter.

Bonners Ferry 45, Post Falls JV 43: Alex Mendez scored seven points to go with seven rebounds and six assists and Aaron Moe added six points and five steals as the host Badgers (1-1) held off the Trojans.

Coeur d’Alene Chartery 45, Timberlake 41: Greg Roman led with 11 points and nine rebounds and the Panthers (3-1) edged the visiting Tigers (0-4). J.D. Page scored a game-high 17 points for the Tigers.

Springdale 74, Columbia 49: Conner Parker tallied 20 points and Rodney Abrahamson added 17 as the Chargers (1-0) outscored the visiting Lions (0-2) 47-23 in the second half.

Valley Christian 47, Liberty 44 (OT): Tyler Tipke scored 14 points and Kolby Blew hit three free throws during overtime to lift the host Panthers (2-0) to a win over the Lancers (0-2).

Curlew 58, Inchelium 46: Jacob Bryant and Tanner Somday combined for 31 points and the visiting Cougars (2-1) outscored the Hornets (0-1) 21-15 in the fourth quarter to hold on to the win.

Northport 76, St. Michael’s 54: Michal Marko tallied a game-high 19 points and Adrian Konkler chipped in 18 for the Mustangs (2-0) who knocked off the host Warriors (1-3).

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 59, Moses Lake Christian 57 (OT): Derek Isaak scored all seven points in overtime for the Warriors (2-0) and hit the winner with 1.4 seconds left against the host Lions. Isaak finished with 35 points and 10 boards.

Freeman 57, Lake Roosevelt 47: Kellen Miller led all scorers with 21 points and the Scotties (2-2) knocked off the host Raiders in Coulee Dam. Ty Egbert had 21 to lead Lake Roosevelt.

LaCrosse-Washtucna 57, Tri-Cities Prep 47: Jeff Zimmer went 8 of 17 from the field to score 19 points, leading the Tigercats (2-1) to a win over the visiting Jaguars.

Wilbur-Creston 36, Soap Lake 32: Josh Tonasket scored 13 points to lead the Wildcats (3-0) to a win over the host Eagles.

Republic 54, Kettle Falls 49: Tyler Bowe finished with a game-high 17 points and Jason Ganacias added 15 points in the Tigers’ (1-2) win over the host Bulldogs (1-2).
