Area roundup: Vandals end their skid against Montana

Rachele Kloke came off the bench to score 21 points Wednesday, hitting 10 of 14 from the floor, as Idaho (6-2) defeated Montana 69-56 in nonconference women’s basketball at Memorial Gym.

Montana had defeated Idaho five consecutive times.

Yinka Olorunnife added 18 rebounds and 12 points for the Vandals. Sarah Ena led the Grizzlies (3-6) with 17 points.

The Vandals shot 15 of 25 from the floor in the second half.

• Kristi Kingma scored 21 points as Washington (4-2) beat host Cal State Northridge (0-10) 73-55 in nonconference play.

Boys basketball

Connor Hill finished with 23 points, six rebounds and five assists while leading Post Falls (2-0) to a 65-48 nonleague win over visiting Mead. PF’s Michael Hillman added nine rebounds. PJ Hahn scored 12 for the Panthers (1-2).

In other nonleaguers, Cheney (2-0) posted a 45-42 win at St. Maries. Jake Mercer had 18 points for the Lumberjacks (3-1). … Garrett Turner scored 14 points, hitting 4 of 4 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, as host Dayton held off Tekoa-Oakesdale 43-37. The Nighthawks closed a 10-point deficit to one before Dayton won at the line.

Girls basketball

Taylor Ingebritsen hit three 3-pointers and scored 24 points to lead Mead (1-1) to a 61-57 nonleague win at Post Falls. Brooke Litalien hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 for the Trojans (2-4).

In another nonleaguer, Tekoa-Oakesdale (2-1) took advantage of a 21-11 third quarter to register a 61-52 win at Dayton.

Gymnastics

Cady Markin (34.175 points), Stacie Davis (33.575) and Kaleigh Campbell (32.325) finished 1-2-3 in the all-around to lead University to a team title during a five-way Greater Spokane League meet at Central Valley. U-Hi scored 161.95 points to easily outdistance the host and runner-up Bears (144.975). Markin won the balance beam (9.5) and vault (8.075), and Davis took the uneven bars (8.8). CV’s Lauren Speers won the floor exercise at 8.25.

Arena football

The Spokane Shock added offensive lineman Vladimir Richard (6-foot-4, 310 pounds) to their lineup and placed quarterback RJ Archer on Other League Exempt as he signed to join the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad.

Richard, who played in 36 games, completed his collegiate career at Tennessee in 2009.
