Huskies upset No. 3 Nebraska at NCAAs

Kindra Calrson and Becky Perry each tallied 18 kills and combined to score nine of the last 11 points for No. 11 Washington (24-8) in its 3-1 upset win over No. 3 Nebraska in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA volleyball tournament Friday in Seattle.

The Huskies took a 2-1 lead before outdueling the Cornhuskers 29-27 in the fourth and final set of the match.

The Huskies play Cal in the quarterfinals at 8:30 p.m. today in Seattle.

Wrestling

North Idaho’s Wilhelm Viljoen Meyer recorded a fall of Timber Holmquist in 1:43 at the 165-pound weight class and the Cardinals cruised to a 27-12 dual meet victory over Northwest College in Coeur d’Alene.

Women’s soccer

Idaho’s Chelsea Small and Jill Flockhart were both placed on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-West Region team.

Small made the second team and Flockhart the third team.
