At Breakfast with Santa, donations will help charity

The fifth-grade student leadership team at West Ridge Elementary in the Post Falls School District is doing their part this holiday season with their Breakfast with Santa Saturday at Applebee’s, 280 W. Hanley Ave. in Coeur d’Alene.

From 8 to 10 a.m., West Ridge students will be collecting donations at the breakfast. The money collected will be donated to a local charity not yet decided on by the students.

LCHS debate, speech team win competition

Students in the Lake City High School debate and speech team in the Coeur d’Alene School District took first place at the Feline Frenzy, hosted by Mead High School. This is the second year in a row that the LCHS students have received the honor. Lake City competed against 17 other schools.

Individual trophy winners include Devin Walker, second place in open dramatic interpretation, first place in open ed communication and first place in open Congressional debate; Rachael Hogan, first place in novice dramatic interpretation; Nick Kuisti and Jayden Requena, first place in open duo interpretation; Tabatha Poelstra and Ronique Padda, third place in open duo interpretation; Chase Zitny and Scout McClure, first place in novice duo interpretation; Ronique Padda, first place in open original oratory; Alexis Rollins, first place in novice original oratory; Sarah-Rose Taylor, third place in open ed communication and fifth place in open interpretation reading; Tabatha Poelstra, third place in open extemporaneous; Jeremiah Gookin, fourth place in novice expository; Lance Wells, third place in open humorous interpretation and second place for speaker in a public forum debate; Nick Kuisti and GG Templeman, quarterfinalists in open policy debate; Adrian Sherman and Lance Wells, quarterfinalists in open public forum debate; Jennifer Snow and Lexi Palanuik semifinalists in novice policy debate; and Jennifer Snow, second place speaker in the novice policy debate.
