One dead in shooting near Gonzaga

A woman died following a shooting at a home in the 800 block of East Augusta Ave. early Sunday. Spokane Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer DeRuwe said it appeared to be a case of domestic violence. A male suspect fled the home before police arrived, but was found nearby and is in custody. There are no other suspects. Police were withholding the identity of the victim Sunday, as well as the suspect. The attack occurred about 1:30 a.m. and though the home is located just north of Gonzaga, no Gonzaga students, staff or faculty were involved. It was unclear if anyone other than the victim and the suspect were at the home at the time of the shooting. The crime remained under investigations late Sunday and no other information was available.
