Proposed cut reckless

I’m worried. Our state is in financial crisis, and funding for programs will be cut. But it doesn’t make sense for Washington to cut a program that more than pays for itself, a program that receives federal funds of $9 for every state dollar spent. Or a program that could save us over $50 million per year.

The program to save is Take Charge Medicaid family planning, and it serves over 50,000 limited-income residents in our state annually. The program started in 2001 and has helped over 400,000 people. However, this invaluable program is slated for elimination on March 1.

Cutting family planning is bad public policy and is terrible fiscal policy. Please let the governor and your legislators know that this is one program that we just cannot afford to lose.
