Electrical power was being disrupted to 6,000 customers in the northern portion of Kootenai County, according to the Kootenai Electric Cooperative.
The outage reported at 2:15 p.m. was being caused by a fault in a transmission line that supplies power to the area through Avista Utilities.
Areas darkened include Rathdrum, Athol, Spirit Lake and Bayview.
