In brief: Buchmann leads Lakeland past East Valley

Neena Buchmann scored 14 points to go with seven steals and six rebounds and host Lakeland (5-4) hit six 3-pointers in the first half, knocking off East Valley (2-3) 56-43 in nonleague play Tuesday in Rathdrum.

Amber Swyers led the Knights with 11 points, but EV could not overcome a 10-point halftime deficit.

Sandpoint 39, Kellogg 27: Hailey Olin finished with 13 points and the Bulldogs (3-6) used a 16-0 run in the first quarter to build a lead and they held on to beat the Wildcats (3-5) in Kellogg. Marah Ashcraft led the Wildcats with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Clarkston 46, Moscow 35: Jamie Weisner scored 21 points and the visiting Bantams (5-0) held off the Bears (2-8). Abi Quinnett led the Bears with nine points.

Timberlake 60, Pullman 51: Cassie Thompson scored 14 of the Tigers’ (6-3) 24 first-half points and finished with a game-high 32 points against the host Greyhounds (1-3). Cierra Paul scored 16 points for the Greyhounds.

Cheney 71, Upper Columbia Academy 14: Allie Brown led all scorers with 18 points and added six rebounds and Courtney Sewright chipped in 11 points in the Blackhawks’ (4-1) win over UCA in Spangle.

West Valley 34, Lakeside 18: Shaniqua Nilles tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and WV (4-0) outscored host Lakeside (3-2) 11-2 in the third quarter to take control of the game in Nine Mile Falls.

Lake City JV 58, Bonners Ferry 30: Jansen Butler was 3 of 5 from the 3-point line and scored a game-high 15 points to lead the visiting Timberwolves over the Badgers (1-3).

Deer Park 43, Riverside 40: Kimmie Brazington notched 16 points and 10 rebounds and hit a pair of free throws to bring the Stags (2-2) even late against the visiting Rams (1-3). The Stags erased a three-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Rams 25-19 after the break.

Freeman 59, Medical Lake 41: MacKenzie Taylor scored 18 points and the Scotties (5-1) jumped out to a 15-point lead against the Cardinals (1-3) after one quarter, earning the road win.

Newport 58, Springdale 15: Miranda Frederick led all scorers with 18 points and Taylor Lewis added 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Grizzlies (6-0) in their win over the visiting Chargers (0-4).

Republic 56, Curlew 30: Tori Orestad tallied a game-high 16 points and added three assists and three steals, Jules Largent added nine points and 10 rebounds and the Tigers (2-4) handed the visiting Cougars (4-1) their first loss of the season.

St. John-Endicott 52, Odessa-Harrington 39: Alli Winters poured in a game-high 23 points and the Eagles (4-0) opened an 11-point lead against the visiting Titans (1-3) after one quarter and never looked back.

Rosalia 48, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 35: Briann Maley tallied a game-high 22 points with four assists, scoring nine points in the third quarter to help the Spartans (4-1) put the visiting Broncos (2-3) away late.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 62, Omak 34: Nikki Osborne notched a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds and Sarah Gloyn shared game-high honors with 15 points as the Warriors (4-0) nearly doubled-up the host Pioneers (3-3).

Colton 72, Asotin 20: Jenna and Haley Moser combined for six 3-pointers, scoring 30 points to lead the Wildcats (3-1) to a win over the visiting Panthers. Mollie Kramer added 13 points as the Wildcats took a 51-7 lead into halftime to put the game away early.

Selkirk 72, Cusick 44: Courtney Holter hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 21 points as the host Rangers (4-2, 1-1) outscored the Panthers (0-1, 0-1) 59-33 through three quarters in Ione. Holter scored 15 of her 21 during the Rangers’ 26-point third quarter.

Columbia 55, Wellpinit 35: Julie Ann Larrew scored 14 points, Makenzie Parrow added eight points and seven rebounds and the visiting Lions (5-0, 2-0) knocked off the Redskins (1-2, 1-1).

Garfield-Palouse 42, LaCrosse-Washtucna 34: Kaycie Adair scored 11 points and hauled down 12 rebounds to lead the Vikings (3-2) to a victory over the host Tigercats (0-5). Taylor Burke led L-W with 15 points.
