Inducted It took a while, but Michael Jordan is finally a member of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C. The Wilmington, N.C., native and former University of North Carolina star who went on to become a six-time NBA champion and the Charlotte Bobcats’ owner was inducted Tuesday at halftime of his team’s game against the Toronto Raptors. Jordan, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, was elected to his home state’s hall in 1993. But he never got around to attending an induction ceremony in Raleigh, N.C.

Added The fourth-ranked Connecticut Huskies added 7-foot-1 center Enosch Wolf to their men’s basketball roster. Wolf, from Goettingen, Germany, committed to the Huskies in July. He graduated high school in Germany, but had been taking classes and playing basketball this fall at Wilbraham & Monson Academy, a prep school located in Wilbraham, Mass.

Dismissed Charlotte 49ers men’s basketball coach Alan Major dismissed top scorer Shamari Spears from the team, a little more than two weeks after he was suspended for the third time in two seasons for violating rules. Searching Vanderbilt vice chancellor David Williams says the Commodores are talking with Maryland offensive coordinator James Franklin about the Commodores’ head coaching job for the football team.

Agreed A person with knowledge of Florida football coach Will Muschamp’s new contract says he agreed to a five-year deal worth $13.5 million. Muschamp’s annual salary of $2.7 million is triple what he made as defensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns.

Condemned A leading international gay rights group demanded an official apology from FIFA following Sepp Blatter’s comment about homo- sexual fans traveling to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup. The president of the world soccer governing body said Monday that gay fans “should refrain from any sexual activities” during the World Cup in Qatar, where homosexual behavior is illegal. Juris Lavrikovs, communica- tions director for the European branch of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, said the comments were “very unfortunate and have left people deeply offended.”
