Yates’ rally assists North Central

Jeremiah Yates, trailing 11-0 at 152 pounds, pinned Billy Goforth with 20 seconds left Thursday to help North Central (3-1) to a 52-14 Greater Spokane League wrestling win at Mt. Spokane (1-2).

NC’s John Clary defeated John Hoover 9-3 in a premier match at 145.

Also in the GSL, University (4-0) won every match from 119 to 152, five by pins, on the way to a 56-15 win at Rogers (0-2). U-Hi’s Keaton Vallance (119), Gavin McDonald (130) and Riely Smith (135) had pins in less than 47 seconds. … Carson Graham (103), Jarod Maynes (130), Jake Hollenback (160) and Dan Schoultz (285) had pins as Central Valley (4-0) rolled to a 52-15 win over visiting Shadle Park (0-3). … Shane Kuykendall’s 58-second pin at 189 followed a 43-second pin by unbeaten Jordan Rogers (171) to vault host Mead (3-1) toward a 61-9 win over Lewis and Clark (1-3). … Ferris (1-1) opened with six consecutive wins, including Ben Miller’s technical fall at 112, on the way to a 57-15 win over visiting Gonzaga Prep (0-4).

Boys basketball

Nonleague: Trey’Shaun Lexing, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, scored 23 points to lead host Lincoln (4-1) to a 62-58 win over Coeur d’Alene at Tacoma. Chad Chalich scored 15 to lead the Vikings (2-2). … Jackson Olin and Cole Fuhrman combined for 39 points as Sandpoint (4-2) notched a 65-55 win over visiting St. Maries (5-2). … Trey Sobotta scored 21 points and Clarkston (5-1) hit 27 of 38 free throws during a 76-66 win over visiting Lewiston (3-3). … Josh Helbling’s 17 points guided Moscow (3-4) to a 41-38 win over visiting Pullman (4-1).

Panorama League: Hunter Enyeart had 20 points and 20 rebounds and Avery Miller added 21 points and four assists as host Selkirk (2-5, 1-2) recorded a 67-46 win over Inchelium at Ione. Selkirk’s Nick Gardner added 17 rebounds. Brandon Pachosa and Tyler Zacherle of the Hornets (1-4, 1-3) combined for 31 points.

Girls basketball

Greater Spokane League: Aleisha Hathaway finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead Shadle Park (3-2, 2-1) to a 49-38 win over visiting Mt. Spokane (3-1, 2-1). Shadle’s Chelsea Chandler added six steals.

Panorama League: Courtney Holter scored 16 points and host Selkirk (5-2, 2-1) used a 28-0 first quarter to roll to a 60-20 win over Inchelium (0-4, 0-3) at Ione.

Nonleague: Savannah Blinn scored 21 points, hitting 7 of 10 from the floor and 7 of 10 from the line, to carry Lewiston (6-0) to a 66-49 win at Clarkston. Jamie Wiesner and K.C. McConnell of the Bantams (5-1) combined for 34 points and 21 rebounds. … Maggie Kirscher scored 14 points and visiting Sandpoint (4-6) held St. Maries without a field goal in the fourth quarter to post a 33-29 win. Tia Asbury had 10 points and seven steals for the Lumberjacks (2-5).

Gymnastics

Greater Spokane League: Shadle Park’s Alana Norman swept all four events and Mead (161.0) used its depth to win the team title in a five-way meet at North Central. Norman scored 36.375 in the all-around to hold off Mead’s Cadie Pratt (35.65), who placed second in each event.
