G-Prep, Ferris remain hot
The Gonzaga Prep and Ferris boys basketball teams kept the pressure on idle University (4-0 league) in Greater Spokane League action Saturday.
The Bullpups of G-Prep (4-1 overall, 4-0 league) got a career-high 23 points off the bench from Ryan Gregory in a 63-43 win over the visiting Lewis and Clark Tigers (0-7, 0-5).
Gregory hit five 3-pointers. G-Prep made 8 of 17 from beyond the arc to LC’s 3 of 16.
G-Prep senior Parker Kelly had 19 points. Brady Houbrick led LC with 17.
Ferris 56, Mead 33: The Saxons (3-1, 3-0) used solid defense to tame the visiting Panthers (3-4, 2-3) in the second half.
Chris Wilson led Ferris with 19 points, 10 coming in the second half. Mead played its fourth game without senior Garrett Swanson, who injured a knee. He is expected back in early January.
Central Valley 65, Rogers 63: Joseph Guerrinha got a rebound and a putback at the buzzer to lift the Bears (3-3, 2-3) over the visiting Pirates (3-3, 3-2), who suffered a second straight two-point loss in as many nights.
The Bears fought back from an 18-point deficit. Tanner Wollan made 5 of 5 shots from the field to lead CV with 14 points. Teammate Garret Sawyer had seven rebounds to go with 13 points. Steve Delvecchio led Rogers with 22 points and seven rebounds.
North Central 61, Shadle Park 45: The Indians (2-4, 2-3) played steady throughout as they pulled away from the visiting Highlanders (3-4, 2-3).
Isaiah Hollister led NC with 18 points as he made 6 of 11 shots from the field. He also had six rebounds.
Shadle, which lost junior standout wing Brett Boese for the season with a broken foot this week, was 0 for 13 on 3-point attempts. Kionte Brown led the Highlanders with 16 points.
