Hundreds attend anti-violence rally
PORTLAND – Several hundred people attended a rally against violence held Sunday at the Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland.
That’s where federal authorities say a Corvallis teenager plotted to set off a bomb at a Christmas tree-lighting event. The 19-year-old former student was arrested Nov. 26 after an FBI sting. Two days later, the Corvallis Islamic Center where he sometimes attended was hit by an arsonist.
More than two dozen organizations, including Christian, Jewish and Buddhist groups, sponsored the event.
