Religion Notebook: Christmas Eve events planned

Friday is Christmas Eve and churches everywhere will celebrate the birth of Christ with special services and musical events.

• The Spokane Faith Center, 3330 W. Central Ave., will present a Christmas Eve musical at 7 p.m.

The event is free.

Mission Community Presbyterian Church, 2103 E. Mission Ave., will present a candlelight service at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N. Gleneden Drive, will present three Christmas Eve services: at 5 p.m. there will be a family service featuring the Covenant Marimba Band; at 8 p.m. there will be a candlelight service; and 11 p.m., a candlelight service including communion.

Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, 5508 N. Alberta St., will present a contemporary Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. which will include the church’s worship team and a children’s interactive Christmas play. There will be a traditional candlelight service at 9 p.m. with the church choir.

Child care will be provided at both services.

The church also will offer worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday.

New Hope Christian Reformed Church, 3110 W. Francis Ave., will offer a Christmas Eve candlelight worship service at 7 p.m.

Fowler United Methodist Church, 3928 N. Howard St., will present a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m.

Audubon Park United Methodist Church, 3908 N. Driscoll Blvd., will offer a Young Family Pageant service Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. If your child would like to take part in the Nativity scene, arrive at the church at 5:30 p.m.

There also will also be a service of Carols and Candles at 11 p.m.

St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall St., will present three Christmas Eve services: At 6 p.m., the church will offer the Christmas Story and Eucharist; at 9:30 p.m., there will be Renaissance and Celtic Music of the Season; and at 10 p.m. a candlelight Eucharist service.

The church also will offer a Lessons and Carols service with Eucharist Sunday at 9 a.m.

Lutheran Ministries Northwest will present, “Finally, Jesus Finds a Place at the Inn,” a celebration of the birth of the Christ of Christmas Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the community meeting room of the Howard Johnson North, 3033 N. Division St.
