Repeal enriched the season

The true spirit of love this blessed season came early for the honorable gay men and women in our military with the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

If we are to describe our nation as one that ensures “liberty and justice for all,” then we cannot tolerate discrimination on any level and must guarantee the rights we claim are enjoyed by all Americans.

The dark shadow that has followed our gay military members under DADT put them in a position that was disrespectful, dishonest and contradictory. I hope this repeal will open the door to ensure that all our gay citizens enjoy all the rights that come with being an American.

I have been enriched, inspired and honored by the gay men and women in my life.

I will pray that we will now be a nation of integrity and represent true American – and for me genuine Christian – values and recognize them for their service and sacrifices on our behalf.
