Handle on Business: Star’s Pet Grooming opening this week
Oh. How does a person write something for the day after Christmas without it being anti-climactic? To avoid that, I’ll try to keep this dull today.
However, Star Belcher won’t. She’ll used finely sharpened, high-tech tools for Star’s Pet Grooming opening this week in Unit H of Northgate Mall at 3650 Government Way.
With 24 years of experience in the world of pets and eight years specifically in grooming, she will work with all breeds of dogs and stranger-friendly cats. She will take appointments 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Originally from Buena Park, Calif., Star and her husband were looking for an ideal place to live, and discovered North Idaho while on a vacation. She plans to hire help as the business grows. Super Silver settles on Sherman
More than 10,000 sterling and stone jewelry items are displayed for easy viewing (and buying) at Super Silver Coeur d’Alene. The year-old store moved from Fourth Street to 414 Sherman Ave. last month. The space recently housed the Runway store and for several years was Lake City Antiques.
Owners (and sisters-in-law) Kristy Chappelear and Stephanie O’Brien offer rings, chains, earrings, toe rings, pendants, hoops and Idaho garnets and Montana opals. Cornerstone Center at capacity
Longevity Chiropractic and Merry Maids have occupied the final spaces in Cornerstone Center at 761 N. Thornton Ave., Post Falls.
Brett Davis, D.C., came to North Idaho from an internship in Honduras. Title Cash opens two offices
Coming from Helena and Bozeman, Mont., respectively, Title Cash has opened offices at 3655 Government Way and 1602-A E. Seltice Way. Employees Cate Townsend and Pam Stillwell offer “user-friendly” service with no credit checks and no waiting, Townsend said. With 315 outlets and its headquarters in Alabama, the company offers cash for car titles, and payday and auto loans.

This week’s tidbits
• Watch for a new bakery in downtown Coeur d’Alene.
• A yogurt store will be opening near Costco.
• The WinCo Foods store planned for nine acres in the northeast corner of Appleway and Ramsey Road is “on hold.” With its headquarters in Boise, WinCo has regional stores in Spokane, Spokane Valley and Moscow. The Coeur d’Alene store would be 95,000 square feet.
• A take-and-bake pizza store is planned for the northwest corner of Coeur d’Alene.
• The Bass Shoes and Van Huesen stores closed at the Factory Outlets near State Line. The L’Eggs-Hanes-Bali, Kitchen Collection and Oriental Foods stores are about all that’s still open there. Evidently a major mall is planned there when the new I-90 interchange is built nearby. But how could that compete with the Spokane Valley Mall?
• Speaking of that place – I went to Ivar’s last weekend and thought that a fish restaurant would work in downtown Coeur d’Alene. Well, it’s by the lake. Tourists would like that connection.
