Trickle has dried up

Many letter writers cite unfairness because rich people pay most of the income taxes. That’s like saying that people who eat more should pay less for their groceries. Any redistribution of wealth is not going to address our national debt. Everyone should pay a share of taxes with fairness being the main consideration.

I refuse to accept the Republican argument that giving more funds to rich people is better than giving it to poor people. The poor spend for basics like food and shelter and the profits go to the rich business owners. We have trickle up, but not trickle down.

What happens to all the bonus and windfall profit money? The rich are sitting on billions, and their banks are not loaning money for new business.

The latest tax cut package borrows $842 billion to give breaks to everyone, but the rich are not investing their windfalls from the government. It’s time for Republicans to start hiring to prove that trickledown economics works. Otherwise, the tax rates for the rich should be significantly increased in 2012. You don’t need a free lunch just because you’re rich. Most waiters will tell you that the rich are the lowest tippers.
