13 workers in Washington last year slain at work

Associated Press
The slayings last year of six law enforcement officers made a total of 13 on-the-job homicides in Washington. The Department of Labor and Industries says this is the highest number of workplace violence deaths in more than a decade. In addition to the officers, others slain on the job were clerks, a taxi driver, musician and armored car driver. The department also says there were seven workplace suicides in 2009 among the total of 62 fatalities from work-related injuries.
