Returned Florida Panthers left wing David Booth returned from a concussion that had left him sidelined since Oct. 24. The 25-year-old forward missed 45 games because of the injury, which might have also cost him a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. The Panthers defeated the New York Islanders 2-0 on Sunday, and Booth tallied an assist.

•Dallas Stars right wing Jere Lehtinen was activated off injured reserve for Sunday’s 4-2 loss against the Phoenix Coyotes. Lehtinen, a member of Finland’s Olympic team, missed the previous six games with a neck injury. The 36-year-old Lehtinen had three goals and eight assists in 32 games this season.

Injured Phoenix Coyotes forward Scottie Upshall is out indefinitely with a torn ACL in his right knee. Upshall was injured in Thursday’s 3-2 win over Calgary and missed Saturday night’s 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers. The club said surgery will be necessary to repair the tear. The 26-year-old right wing has a team-leading 18 goals in 49 games this season.

Sidelined Yahoo! Sports is reporting that New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul will have arthroscopic knee surgery and could be sidelined for one to two months. Paul first hurt his left knee in a game at Golden State on Wednesday. Then, near the end of regulation Friday night against the Chicago Bulls, the All-Star went out of bounds to chase an errant pass and struck a camera on the same spot that bothered him two nights earlier.

Acquired The Toronto Maple Leafs shook up their struggling club, acquiring defenseman Dion Phaneuf from the Calgary Flames in a seven-player deal Sunday and swapping goalies with Anaheim to get J.S. Giguere. Along with Phaneuf, Toronto received Keith Aulie and Fredrik Sjostrom from Calgary in exchange for Ian White, Matt Stajan, Nick Hagman and Jamal Mayers. The Maple Leafs also traded goalie Vesa Toskala and Jason Blake to Anaheim for Giguere, who became an expensive backup after the Ducks signed No. 1 goalie Jonas Hiller to a four-year extension Saturday. The moves follow Toronto’s six-game winless streak.

Delayed Organizers have postponed the Central American Games from March to April because the main host country Panama has not completed venues for the competition.
