Prep basketball: Inchelium prevails against Northport
In a final regular-season game played in a playoff atmosphere in Northport on Monday night between the top two teams in the North Division, point guard Tony Louie sparked the visiting Inchelium Hornets to a 52-42 Panorama League 1B boys victory.
Louie’s solid all-around play, that included 13 points and nine rebounds, and a strong rebounding performance led by Chad Rosenbaum with 20, keyed the Hornets (14-5, 11-4 league). Brandon Kohler led Inchelium with 16 points and added 10 rebounds. Rafael Brandao’s 10 points led Northport (7-11, 5-10).
When Panorama League tournament play starts Wednesday, Inchelium will play host to Cusick (15-5, 11-3) and Northport will be at Wellpinit (17-2, 14-0).
•Mullan (6-7) had three players with double-doubles – Casey McKinnon 25 points, 11 rebounds; Trevor Henderson and Justin Scheel, 10 and 11, respectively, each – in a 52-44 nonleague win over the visiting Coeur d’Alene freshmen.
Girls
Shaynne Wilson scored 22 points to lead Northport (4-14, 3-12 league) to a 47-31 Panorama 1B win over visiting Inchelium (1-18, 1-14) in the final regular-season game for both schools. Anissa Jerred scored 15 for the Hornets.
•Sophomore Morgan Koenig had 17 points and 18 rebounds to lead Mullan (5-7) to a 37-29 nonleague win over the visiting Coeur d’Alene freshmen. Kayla McClatheey led CdA with 10 points.
