Mental illness resources available also in N. Idaho

Last Tuesday’s health section featured a story listing Spokane resources for people with mental illness and their families.

Those resources are available in North Idaho as well:

•Education and support meetings are offered by the Coeur d’Alene chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) the second Tuesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kootenai Medical Center’s Health Resource Building.

The first hour focuses on education, and the second hour on support. There are no meetings in July and August, or on holidays.

For more information, see www.namicoeurdalene.org or call (208) 772-9650 or (208) 765-0460.

A help center is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at (208) 664-3095, Ext. 322.

•A depression and/or bipolar disorder support group meets Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Kootenai Medical Center Classrooms, 2003 Lincoln Way, Coeur d’Alene.

The group is affiliated with the national Depression and Biopolar Support Alliance (DBSA).
