Mom’s the word on ‘Rock’

Tonight’s “30 Rock” (9:30 p.m., NBC, TV-14) returns to its theme of mothers and female role models.

Jack’s (Alec Baldwin) mother (Elaine Stritch) sends him into near homicidal rage, while Verna (Jan Hooks, “SNL”), Jenna’s (Jane Krakowski) low-rent, money-grubbing mom, shows up seeking forgiveness and reconciliation – or so she says.

•Two regulars return to Comedy Central tonight with the Season 2 debut of “Important Things with Demetri Martin” (10 p.m., TV-14) followed by the third-season premiere of “The Sarah Silverman Program” (10:30 p.m., TV-MA).
