The Spokesman-Review

I am one of the many Americans who are extremely frustrated with the inability of our country’s leaders to negotiate a health care bill. Legislators need to worry less about their jobs and, instead, solve our problem of a dysfunctional health care system.

Most of us agree that everyone needs health care, that government and private entities have a role in providing health care services, that researchers in our universities and corporate entities have the ability to innovate and create extraordinary technologies.

We agree that unfair insurance practices must be changed, that individuals must take responsibility for their lifestyles, that doctors and nurses must use the most compassionate and effective healing practices. We agree on so much.

Our legislators need to lead more and politicize less. With so much in common, a health care bill can be negotiated and passed. It will be a lifesaver.
