Amid buzz, Apple quiet on possible Spokane store
Company confirms only that it’s hiring
If Apple intends to open one of its stylish retail stores in Spokane, the Cupertino, Calif.-based company is saying little to confirm that rumor.
For the past four days, bloggers and others on the Web have posted messages declaring that the tech company is prepared to hire workers for its first Apple Retail Store in Spokane.
A Craigslist Spokane ad appeared last week, saying the firm would open “our newest store” at River Park Square.
This week Apple.com has posted listings for future jobs for a store in Spokane.
An Apple spokeswoman on Monday said: “I can confirm we are recruiting. Beyond that, we are not making any announcements.” An Apple Store would be a vote of confidence in Spokane’s retail market, as the tech company has fewer than 300 of them across the country.
The stores are designed with stylish floor plans and wood-table displays for Apple products. The stores also typically feature service areas for Apple products.
Elizabeth Mills, marketing director for River Park Square, said she’s a bit miffed that the ads have appeared without better information.
“I don’t know why it was posted on the (Apple) Web site,” as no lease has been signed, she said. And she wouldn’t confirm a lease signing was near.
“We’re constantly talking with prospective merchants. That’s what we do,” Mills said.

Possible locations:
1) If they go big - lower floor of the condos at 809 W. Main, corner of Lincoln and Main - High Visibility.
2) If they prefer small - 2nd floor of RPS down from Gymboree - Poor visibility tho’

Having worked for NeXT and Apple, they’ll want space with high foot traffic capabilities. Their downtown stores are not small stores. Their satellite stores are the small space stores.
Antiquated hardware and software? Envious of UNIX 03 certified OS running on current hardware bothers you?
