Boys State B: St. John-Endicott 59, Tulalip Heritage 43
YAKIMA — Warren Miller poured in a team-high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading St. John-Endicott to a 59-43 first-round victory over Tulalip Heritage in the Class 1B boys state tournament Wednesday.
Miller, averaging 13.3 points per game, hit 8 of 16 shots, and had two assists and a blocked shot. Teammates Dylan Schmick and Cole McCanna chipped in 14 and 11 points, respectively.
SJE (14-11) built a 20-10 lead after the first quarter, and TH (13-11) never got closer than three points the rest of the way.
SJE shot 54 percent (14 of 26) in the second half while pulling away.
Shawn Comenote made 8 of 9 shots and led the Hawks with 22 points, including four 3-pointers. James Whitebear added 10 points.
