Austin lifts Vikings

Devon Austin led Coeur d’Alene with 26 points and 12 rebounds and hit the winning 3-point shot with 5 seconds remaining to beat Wenatchee 74-71 in double overtime Saturday in Coeur d’Alene.

The Vikings (9-2) trailed by 18 with 7 minutes left in regulation, but outscored the Panthers 20-4 by the end of regulation to force overtime. Deon Watson also tallied a double-double for the Vikings with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Connor Smith poured in 29 for the Panthers.

North Central 75, Medical Lake 48: Aaron Antoine scored a game-high 19 points and the Indians (4-5) shot 7 of 11 from beyond the 3-point arc against the Cardinals (1-5) in Medical Lake.

ML was responsible for 29 turnovers in the game, while Ed Richardson led the Indians with seven steals to add to his six points. Kevin Fisher paced ML with 14 points.

Lakeland 71, Pullman 42: Joel Underdahl scored 37 points with 12 boards, five assists and five steals as the Hawks (4-3) started strong and finished stronger against the Greyhounds (1-5), scoring 22 points in the first quarter and 24 in the fourth in Rathdrum. Underdahl hit three 3-pointers and went 10 of 12 from the free-throw line, while Kyle English added 13 points for the Hawks.

St. George’s 42, Chewelah 39: Jordan Dickson scored the Dragons’ (6-4) last 10 points including the winning 3-pointer with 3 seconds remaining against the Cougars (8-4) at St. George’s. Dickson finished with 17 points.

The Cougars were led by 11 from Josh Christian, but they scored only eight points in the fourth to give up a four-point lead.

Lind-Ritzville 68, Wilbur-Creston 52: Coming off the bench for the Broncos (7-1), Bryce Hilzer scored a team-high 21 points with seven boards and four steals and the Wildcats (7-2) struggled to maintain their momentum after an 18-point third quarter, scoring just seven in the final frame. The Broncos outscored them by 10 in the fourth.

Austin Snavely led WC with 26 points in the game, while Jame Stevenson added to Hilzer’s big night with 17 points.

Intermountain

Priest River 69, Bonners Ferry 26: Eric Holbrook and Max Salesky each tallied 16 points and Jake Weimer added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go with four blocks and the Spartans (7-3, 1-0) burst into league play by outscoring the Badgers (3-5, 0-1) 27-4 in the first quarter and holding a 32-point lead by halftime in Priest River.

In addition to his 16 points, Holbrook also added nine assists and four steals.

Kellogg 50, Timberlake 27: J.J. Bebout had 11 points and eight rebounds and the Wildcats (6-4, 1-0) started with 20 points in the first quarter and then outscored the Tigers (5-3, 0-1) 25-8 in the second half for their first league win in Spirit Lake. Derek Tymesen led the Tigers with 11 points, but they struggled on offense aside from a 16-point second quarter.

Bi-County 2B

Davenport 64, Valley Christian 26: Morgan Scharff’s 14 points led a balanced scoring attack for the Gorillas (7-1, 3-1) that saw 11 players finish with points against the Panthers (1-7, 0-3), including Joey Gunning’s eight points off the bench, in Davenport.

Struggling on the road, the Panthers shot 3 of 26 from the 3-point line and were led by Gunner Kresse’s 11 points.

Reardan 63, Liberty 52: Grant Schultz led four Indians (4-5, 1-3) in double figures with 17 points and the visiting Indians shot 8 of 15 from the floor in the fourth quarter for 25 points to pull away from the host Lancers (2-7, 0-3).

Terry Veile finished with a team-high 19 points for the Lancers.

Northwest Christian 48, Colfax 28: Kwinn Hanson scored 16 points, Ruben Clark added nine rebounds and six blocks to his eight points and the Crusaders (7-2, 3-0) held the Bulldogs (3-4, 2-2) to two points in the first quarter, building a 16-point lead at halftime to remain unbeaten in league play in Colbert.

James Robinson led Colfax with 12 points and Caleb Bravard added six.

Bi-County 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 68, Sprague-Harrington 42: Derek Isaak scored 16 of his 25 points in the first half, three Warriors (6-4, 2-0) finished in double figures and the host Falcons (1-7, 0-2) struggled to keep pace with a 39-point first half by the Warriors, scoring just 14 points in that span. Justin Clouse led the Falcons with 16 points.

Panorama

Cusick 68, Springdale 41: The Panthers (8-2, 5-0) picked up right where they left off before the holidays in league play, jumping out to 26-6 lead after one quarter against the Chargers (7-4, 3-2) in Springdale.

Tyler Edwards led all scorers with 19 points for the Panthers, while the Chargers struggled without Sam Howard, who left with a dislocated shoulder in the opening minute of the first quarter.

Selkirk 59, Curlew 39: Hunter Enyeart scored 15 points with 14 rebounds and five steals and the Rangers (9-3, 6-1) broke loose early against the Cougars (0-8, 0-5) building a 16-point lead by halftime in Ione.

Zach Jensen was the game’s leading scorer for Selkirk with 24 points and Walker Pettis finished with a team-high nine assists, while Tanner Somday led the Cougars with 20 points.
