Spartans top Badgers

Taylor Stewart and Melissa Hopkins combined for the first 13 points for Priest River (8-3, 1-0 Intermountain League), and the Spartans’ defense held Bonners Ferry (4-6, 0-2) to nine first-half points in a 53-34 win Saturday at Priest River.

Hopkins finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Stewart added 10 points.

Timberlake 42, Kellogg 34: Cassie Thompson’s 24 points paced the Tigers (10-1, 2-0), who held onto a 10-point fourth-quarter lead against the Wildcats (8-4, 1-1) at Spirit Lake.

Ryder Ashcraft led the Wildcats with 17 points and Chelsea Morgan added 12.

Bi-County 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 62, Sprague-Harrington 23: Nikki Osborne scored 11 of her 15 points in the first quarter and the visiting Warriors (9-1, 2-0) held the Falcons (2-6, 1-1) to two points in the opening frame and 11 through the first three quarters while forcing 25 turnovers to pull away early.

Bi-County 2B

Colfax 52, Northwest Christian 26: The Bulldogs (5-2, 4-0) were held scoreless for the opening 5 minutes of the first quarter by the Crusaders (3-6, 1-2), but found their groove quickly, finishing the frame with 16 points and taking an 11-point lead into halftime at Colbert.

Kayla Johnson led the Bulldogs with 16 points.

Reardan 67, Liberty 40: Kelsey Moos led all scorers with 21 points and the Indians (8-1, 4-0) shot 50 percent from the floor to handle the host Lancers (6-3, 1-2).

Teara Cornmesser led the Lancers with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Davenport 42, Valley Christian 36: Lindy Riggan brought the Panthers (5-3, 1-2) to within two with consecutive 3-pointers, but Brianna Cooper’s 3-pointer moments later gave the host Gorillas (3-5, 1-3) a five-point edge they would hold the rest of the game. Riggan finished with 17 for VC, while Miranda Mielke led Davenport with 15. Cooper finished with eight.

Selkirk 48, Curlew 37: Angelina MacArthur scored 13 points with five assists and five steals and Kammi Sharp chipped in 15 rebounds as the Rangers (5-7, 4-3) avenged an earlier loss to the Cougars (4-4, 2-3) at Ione.

Chanel Somday and Noel TeMoananui combined for 22 points for Curlew, but they could not overcome 30 turnovers in the loss.

Springdale 56, Cusick 27: Freshman Taylor Smith came off the bench to score 11 points, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, Shelbea Rainbolt added 13 points and the Chargers (11-0, 5-0) jumped out early and held their lead against the Panthers (1-8, 0-5) at Springdale.

Springdale shot 8 of 18 from beyond the arc as a team.

Non-league

Coeur d’Alene 76, Wenatchee 48: At Coeur d’Alene, Carli Rosenthal’s 18 points and 10 rebounds helped jump-start the Vikings (13-1) to 43 first-half points, and the Panthers could not keep pace despite 24 points from Dani Hallberg.

Senior Dayna Drager added 14 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Vikings, who picked up their first win since their 41-game winning streak came to an end last week.

North Central 51, Medical Lake 41: The Cardinals (1-5) trailed by just two after three quarters, but three Indians (5-4) finished in double figures to help pull away in the fourth quarter with a 14-6 edge at Medical Lake.

Hailey Markham-Patti and Riley Holsinger each had 12 points while Tara Van Weerdhuizen recorded 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Indians .

Lewiston 56, Pullman 47: After the Greyhounds (3-3) had pulled ahead by two with an 18-point third quarter, the Bengals (9-2) outscored them 16-5 in the fourth to pull ahead for good at Lewiston. The leading scorer for the game was Pullman’s Jordan Levenseller, who had 18, while Lewiston was paced by Jessica Kramer’s 16 points.

Lakeland 56, St. Maries 10: Neena Buchman finished with eight points and six rebounds and Alyana Watson added 10 points as the Hawks (4-7) jumped ahead 30-4 at halftime against the Lumberjacks (4-5), holding them to one point in the second quarter at St. Maries.

St. George’s 46, Chewelah 23: Chessey Thomas had 14 points, Lizzie McQuade recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards and the Dragons (9-1) outscored the Cougars (1-11) 17-3 in the fourth quarter to pull away at St. George’s.

Lind-Ritzville 75, Wilbur-Creston 19: Davi Killian had 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting, and Kelsey Arlt added 16 points with three 3-pointers as the Broncos (2-6) ran away with the win against the visiting Wildcats (2-8). The Wildcats scored five first-half points and were plagued by 25 turnovers, while the Broncos committed just seven.
