Oh, my, isn’t that precious

Carey
From Wire Reports

Mariah Carey lived up to her loopy reputation at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards with a long, rambling speech after being named Breakthrough Actress for her performance in “Precious.”

Carey, teetering in a skin-tight, black-beaded gown, greeted “Precious” director Lee Daniels at the podium with a little dance and a big hug.

“Please forgive me, because I’m a little bit, um …” she began.

An audience member finished the sentence for her with an obscenity, to which Carey replied, “Yeah!” adding a long, hearty laugh.

In the film, Carey plays a dowdy social worker. When Daniels explained how he told her to remove her makeup, she said, “You could take my makeup off and I don’t look like that (expletive) from the thing,” referring to her character.

“Oh, God,” he moaned.

A full minute before they left the stage, the audience began applauding them off.

“I thank you all for all listening to my little spiel,” Carey said, wearily, “and God bless you.”

You may now kiss the boy

On the celebrity matrimonial beat, singer Katy Perry (“I Kissed a Girl”) is engaged to British actor-comedian Russell Brand.

And if you haven’t heard, “Wedding Crashers” star Vince Vaughn wed real estate agent Kyla Weber in a small private ceremony over the weekend.

Disappearing act

It’s officially over for illusionists Siegfried and Roy.

Siegfried Fischbacher is quoted in the German magazine Neues Blatt as saying that “Roy and I miss our audience. But there will not be a comeback.”
