Apartment residents briefly evacuated during nearby fire

Firefighters in Post Falls extinguished a small fire adjacent to an East Third Avenue apartment complex Monday night. Fire information officer Jim Lyon said that residents of the apartment building were evacuated for a short time during the fire about 11 p.m. The blaze started in a trash container in an unfinished and unoccupied commercial structure adjacent to the apartments, which is several blocks west of Ross Point Road and East Seltice Way. Kootenai County Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.
