Deputies searching for armed North Side robber
Spokane sheriff’s deputies searched this morning for an armed robber who attempted to hold up a fast-food restaurant at Division Street and Hawthorne Road about 7 a.m.
The man was armed with a silver handgun and fled the Jack in the Box, 5 W. Hawthorne Road, on foot. Deputies from around the area responded in an effort to locate the fleeing suspect, but did not find him.
He entered the restaurant and confronted a woman employee, demanding money, but the victim turned and ran to a back room. The robber confronted a second employee, but she, too, ran in back. The employees watched on video as the empty-handed suspect fled on foot, said Sgt. Dave Reagan.
The suspect was white, in his 20s, 5-foot-10 and skinny. He had on a gray to black hooded jacket, light-colored rubber gloves, blue jeans and possibly booths.
He wore a dark blue or black bandanna over his face and had makeup drawn around his eyes.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.

just how much money is there in the cash register at 0700… ? los stupidos… an armed robbery of a hamburger stand… good grief… no details here.. but wonder about the thinking of these crooks… the real scary “terrorists” are living among us…. more at risk at my local Jack in the Box than anywhere else.. there have been five or more robberies in my northend suburbia of late.. gus

ChefGus, I agree…desperate people undertaking actions because of drugs and in rare cases, the economy. No money to buy coke and people take insane measures. Unfortunately until we can address the “across the border importers” and begin to dry up the supply sources, then we will see these actions by “desperate addicts” continue. This of course is only one, very minor action, within a network of challenges. How can we effectively treat those on crack to free them is yet another - considering of course they want to be free. In ultra-conservative countries, drug dealers incur death. Perhaps life in prison without parole would be a good start for serious drug importers - not the addicted user - they need help. Unfortunately I do not see a solution in the near future, so stay on your guard when you get a burger.

yeah he was probably hungry, or needed money for drugs, most likely opiates. he couldn’t have gotten away with that much cash from a jack-in-the-box though.

Not to worry… I am like many others in this City a “concealed carry”…. and have been for 30 or so years… never had it out of my pocket… and hope to never need it…so other than avoiding late night Zip Trip encounters… one can never know where and when something might happen…. the main risk seems to be even in daylight… or dawn in this case.. I am sure I would feel my life threatened if someone points a pistol at me…. and so….. J
