Sasquatch teams romp to wins

Meghan Eisenmann came off the bench to score 18 points and grab six rebounds and Brooke Randall added 18 points to lead the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch (9-4, 1-1) to a 78-37 victory over the Wenatchee Lady Knights (4-9, 0-2) in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges women’s basketball action Wednesday at Spokane Falls CC.

The Sasquatch shot 49 percent (29 of 59) from the floor, while holding Wenatchee to 21 percent shooting (9 of 44).

Men’s basketball

Griffon Jones scored 17 to lead five players in double figures and grabbed six rebounds to power the CC Spokane Sasquatch (11-3, 1-1) to an 85-43 NWAACC win over the visiting Wenatchee Knights (4-8, 0-2).

•Whitworth Pirates senior Nate Montgomery was named the Northwest Conference student-athlete of the week after averaging 26 points and 11 rebounds in wins over George Fox and Pacific last week.

Wrestling

Steven Vasquez and Celic Bell each notched major-decision victories to help the North Idaho Cardinals rally for a 23-19 victory over the Highline Thunderbirds in Des Moines, Wash.

Vasquez beat Steven Romero 15-2 in the 174-pound weight class and Bell – a 184-pounder – followed with an 18-7 win over Tate Collins.

Heavyweight Roger McCovey wrapped up the win for the Cardinals with a 4-2 decision over David Lopez.
