Sun Devils blister Oregon with 3s

Associated Press

Rihards Kuksiks scored 25 points, Arizona State buried Oregon with eight 3-pointers in the first half, and the Sun Devils defeated the Ducks 76-57 at Eugene, Ore., on Thursday night.

Ty Abbott scored 16 points – all in the first half – and Derek Glasser added 12 for the Sun Devils (13-5, 3-2).

Kuksiks and Abbott had four 3-pointers each, and Arizona State made 10 of 20 shots from beyond the arc.

LeKendric Longmire scored 11 points to lead the Ducks (10-6, 2-2), who became the latest victim of a smothering Sun Devils defense that came into the game with a nation-leading 54.4 points-allowed average.

Though Oregon surpassed that total, it shot just 37 percent (22 of 59) from the floor and 29 percent (4 of 14) from 3-point range. The Ducks finished 20 points lower than their season average.

Oregon State 67, Arizona 64: Lathen Wallace’s 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds left gave the Beavers (8-8, 2-2) a victory over the Wildcats (8-9, 2-3) at Corvallis, Ore.

Roeland Schaftenaar had 22 points for the Beavers, who trailed by as many as 11 in the second half after leading by 13 in the first half.

Derrick Williams had 20 points for the Wildcats.

Oregon State outscored Arizona 21-7 after the Wildcats had taken a 57-46 lead on Brendon Lavender’s 3-pointer with 8:57 remaining.
