Leaving Alabama cornerback Kareem Jackson is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft after the advisory committee projected him as a second-round pick. Jackson announced his decision Friday, the last day for underclassmen to declare for the draft.

Hired Houston offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen is leaving and bringing his high-powered attack to Oklahoma State. The architect of the nation’s top offense was hired as the offensive coordinator of the Cowboys, who finished the season ranked 70th in total offense.

•Georgia finally landed a defensive coordinator, hiring Dallas Cowboys line coach Todd Grantham to a three-year contract worth $750,000 annually.

Returning Argentina’s men’s soccer coach, Diego Maradona, has returned to the team, ending a two-month suspension imposed by FIFA following a profanity- filled rant after his team qualified for the World Cup against Uruguay.

Indicted Former NBA and Memphis player Shawne Williams has been indicted on felony drug charges in a Memphis, Tenn., court. Prosecutors said Williams was indicted by a grand jury on eight counts for possession and conspiracy to sell a codeine-based syrup.

Decided The trial of the man accused of killing Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams is on track to begin next month in Denver. Willie D. Clark is charged with first-degree murder in the New Year’s Day 2007 drive-by shooting death of Williams, who was riding in a rented limousine after leaving a Denver nightclub.

Ordered A court in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, ordered the New York Yankees to pay more than $750,000 to Carlos Rios, their former director of Latin American scouting, for what it ruled was his unlawful firing. Judge Alexis Gomez Geraldino found in favor of Rios, who was fired in August 2008 for allegedly skimming $100,000 in bonus money from Yankees prospect Kelvin De Leon.

Announced University of Central Missouri athletics director Jerry Hughes has named Montana State assistant Jim Svoboda the head football coach. Svoboda will be introduced during a news conference Tuesday.

Died Longtime amateur tennis champion Alastair Martin, who helped transform the game by opening major tournaments to professionals, died of natural causes at White Plains, N.Y. He was 94.
